You know where to find the king, and now you have the Lamp of Truth in your possession. It's time to get to the bottom of the darkness that plagues the village of Horne.

In the village, make your way to the castle and make your way to the Magic Laboratory. As before, head forward along the hallway and descend some stairs, then head left along the next passage. The room where you previously saw the king is now blocked by locked doors with emblems of sheep emblazoned across them. It seems that you'll have to find another way around.

Proceed to the left along the hallway and descend the stairs. You'll now appear at the top of a vertical passage. Head down to reach another staircase, which you can descend to arrive in the third basement. There, head down again and either left or right at the inverted 'T' that you reach. As you continue down along either corridor, they'll both meet up at the same four-way intersection. Now you can head up to descend some stairs and find the Star Earring in a treasure chest, or you can head down to descend a different flight of stairs that will take you to a separate portion of the fourth basement level.

As you arrive on this floor, head up along the left or right side of the room and make your way to the back portion of the floor. You'll find a descending staircase that takes you to the fifth basement. Head straight down along this corridor, ignoring the first intersection as you do. You'll reach a large room with huge stone columns. Positioned at the center of the room is a statue of a sheep. If you investigate it, you'll receive the following message: "If you have love for Horne in your heart, and treat the royal sheep as they should be treated, doors shall open to you."

If you think back, you might remember reading a sign in the village of Horne, just left of the windmill tower where Cid reports your in-game stats. The sign mentioned (for no apparent reason, at the time) that you can treat sheep properly by touching their nose, right flank, left flank and finally their tail. That clue is the solution to your current puzzle.

Before you proceed, note that this room has four stairways leading up from each of its four corners. There's treasure at the end of the series of stairs that extend beyond those initial staircases. You may find the items interesting. We'll assume that you do and lead you to each of them.

Along the room's back left corner, you'll find a staircase to climb. Ascend those stairs and head along the passage that you find at their top. You'll reach another ascending staircase. Climb those stairs, then head left and ascend another staircase. You're now on the second basement floor. There, you can open a treasure chest to obtain the Darkness Staff. Now return to the room with the sheep statue.

Along that room's back right corner, you can ascend along a similar series of hallways and staircases. They're almost a mirror image of the stairs and hallways you followed to find the Darkness Staff. When you reach the treasure chest that waits at the end in this direction, you'll open it to find the Evil Lance weapon. Then you should return again to the room with the sheep statue.

This time, head to the stairs that ascend from the lower right corner of that room. Follow that long hallway right and then up to reach another staircase. Climb it to arrive on the third basement floor. Then head down and around as the corridor leads to a three-way intersection.. Here, it's possible to proceed either down or to the right. Go down first to find a chest that you can open to obtain the Black Book. Then return to the intersection and this time head to the right. You'll find some stairs, which you should climb. In the next passage, head down and around to yet another flight of stairs. Climb those and head left to arrive at an intersection where you can go either down or up.

You've reached a very important corridor. There are several sheep placed throughout this corridor. You need to tend to them to solve a puzzle and open a distant doorway. Cross over to the far left side of the room, and then face out toward the intersection to your right. This way, you can be sure that you're at the right starting point to follow our instructions. At that first intersection, head down and to the right. Pass the vertical shaft with the sheep that has its back to you, but head up the next such passage and investigate the sheep that is facing you. Touch it, when asked if you wish to do so. Now you need to head down and left past the first sheep that you find in that direction. Continue left, then up the vertical path to reach a sheep that is facing to the right. Touch it. Next, head down (again passing the next sheep that you find) and continue to the far right side of the area, then up that vertical chamber. Touch the sheep that you find in the recess there, which is facing to the left. Now you have only one more sheep to touch, the one that you've regularly passed so far. It's facing away from you as you approach. Touch it and you'll cause the doors elsewhere in the dungeon to open.

Return to the staircase on the far left side of the area. Descend that staircase and head down along the path beyond, then left to arrive at the top of another staircase. Descend that one, as well. Head down from those stairs to reach an intersection. Here, head straight down to find a treasure chest. Open it for the Darkaga Tome, then return to the intersection and this time head to the right. Follow that path up and left to find some stairs that you can descend, then follow the next corridor down and to the right to reach the top of another staircase. You're back in the lowest level of the Magic Laboratory.

Now it's time to return to the gate that you opened by touching the sheep. Head up to the top of the large chamber and proceed along the narrow corridor. Climb the stairs at the end, then on the next floor head down to the bottom side of the room to ascend another staircase. From the top of that staircase, head up to the four-way intersection. Follow either the left or right path as you work toward the back side of the room, where you'll find stairs that ascend to the second basement level. Head straight up that corridor and climb the stairs. Now you'll find yourself just a short distance to the left of where the gate has slid open. Head through the opening and through an opening to a hallway beyond. Meet with the traveling Adventurer character and save your progress, then head through the next opening.

You've now reached the room where last you saw the king and the minister. Now there's only the king, and he's not pleased to see you. When you talk to him, you'll have the option to use the Lamp of Truth. Do so and you'll cause your true adversary to appear and attack you.

Boss Battle: Satan

Satan will battle you in several stances. During the Demon Lord stance, you can harm him with magic. During the Sword God stance, you cannot. When he is in the latter stance, you should spend your time focusing on boosting any magic attacks and healing your party members. Make sure that you start the battle by casting the Lux spell so that everyone has a better chance of surviving each round. In subsequent rounds, your healer should focus on casting spells that keep you alive while your Black Mage characters attack with their most powerful magic. Remember to focus your spells so that they do more damage when they hit. He actually doesn't have a terribly long life meter, so victory mostly comes down to surviving long enough that he uses a stance where you can inflict damage.

When you defeat Satan, you will receive the Dark Fencer crown. A scene follows, and then you should step on the glowing pink patch of light to warp back to the castle. Head upstairs to the throne room, and pass through the back right door to enter the queen's chambers. There, talk to the king to receive the Desolator black magic spell. As you receive the item, a black aura appears over the sea and the earth shudders. Talk to the king and he will suggest that you meet with Rolan in Spelvia for assistance.
