Final Fantasy: The 4 Heroes of Light Walkthrough

Now you know the characters and you've grown accustomed to getting the most of them in battle. You have explored the world and you (should) know where everything is... plus you have a map in case you forget and a dragon that makes travel easy. Best of all, you have your four party members joined into a single group that can make mincemeat out of the enemies you encounter. As you head toward the game's conclusion, though, your options are a lot more open and there are powerful monsters who can ruin your day if you let them. What you do in what order is (to a certain extent) up to you and relies on your knowledge of what's come so far.

A good starting point as you explore the dark new version of the world is Quicksand Castle, where you'll find some new goodies, though first you should stop in to visit the king in the oasis town of Guera, to the southeast. Talk to the king there and a sequence will follow. He'll recommend that you head to the Moonlight Tower next. Before you do so, you may wish to purchase some new gear from the Guera shops. If you want to fare well against the monsters that you'll soon be encountering, make sure that each party member is equipped with Rock Shield gear.

Head for the Moonlight Tower. Once you enter, head forward and then make your way immediately to the ascending staircase along the room's upper left side. Climb those stairs, then head right along the snaking passageway to reach another staircase. Climb those stairs and then head down and to the upper right to reach still more stairs. At the top of that staircase, head left to save with the Adventurer, then down to climb another staircase. Then in the next room, head to the upper left to meet up with Krinjh. He needs your help. Battle some Trollud Zombie enemies and a Ghoul to save your friend.

After the battle, a brief sequence follows. Then it's clear that the time has come to make your way to Quicksand Castle and find Ariadne. Make your way to that new destination.

From the entrance to the Quicksand Castle area, head along the same route that took you to the top floor on your previous visit. Briefly, that route means heading to the upper right along the path on the base floor, then left and up a long vertical passage to reach a shaft with a staircase. Climb those stairs, head left and down to more stairs, climb those and then head straight up to reach still more stairs. Climb them as well, and head to the right to ascend still more stairs. Head straight down then, descend some stairs and then in the next room, head down again to reach more stairs. Climb those to a room where an Adventurer is waiting to the lower left. Save with him, then head up the stairs nearby to reach the boss room.

Here, you'll see two characters conversing. Approach and talk to them for a short scene. What that concludes, you'll fight some boss monsters.

Boss Battle: King Guera

The battle with King Guera shouldn't prove terribly difficult. You should put most of your energy toward making sure that you keep up your health, since your adversary can attack twice per round and is capable of casting fire-based magic that harms all party members at once, as well as Quake magic that does pretty hefty damage even when you have the appropriate defensive gear equipped. You'll need to battle through several rounds in this manner, at which point the battle will end.

After the first fight, you won't have any real break at all. A second boss encounter follows.

Boss Battle: Asmodeus

Asmodeus is a much more powerful foe than the pitiful king was. You'll definitely need to fight well, as the fiend attacks twice per round and frequently inflicts status ailments on your party. If you have the equipped, he at least can't petrify your party members. If you have a Black Mage character with Magic Might, use that spell in the first round to inflict serious damage on your foe. That'll make it easier to remove the snakes that extend from his form. Those snakes protect him, so you have to eliminate all of them before you can actually do any damage on Asmodeus himself. The battle is much simpler if you use Magic Might at the start, then hack apart the snake heads while healing your party members, then use Magic Might again once all of the snake heads are gone. If you have two Black Mage characters with the Magic Might ability, a White Mage and a Fighter or similar class, the battle will go much more smoothly than it otherwise would.

When you win the second fight, you'll receive the Spell Fencer crown. Talk to Krinjh and you'll also receive the Shield of Light. Then you can step on the pink patch of swirling light to warp out of the area.
