Urbeth/Hunting Caves/Tower to the Sky

Fly over to Urbeth. When you arrive, easily identified (in case you've forgotten) by the huge tower that rises from its center on the map. You'll find it not far southwest from the floating island in the world map's northwest corner.

Upon entering Urbeth, head to the upper left portion of the town, where Thauzand's weapon shop is constructed. Find the merchant just in front of the left doorway that leads into his shop. Talk to him and he'll tell you of a dilemma. The man who wants so much money sounds an awful lot like a certain sorcerer you may recall from past dealings. Head to the northeast portion of the town and where previously you found the sorcerer, you will in this case find a character known as the Apothecary.

The Apothecary is out of the ingredients that he needs for his potion, but references finding more of the ingredients in the caverns to the south. Save your progress if you like, then head to those caves. They're located rather far to the south, as you might recall, so hop aboard your dragon if you don't want to get in any fights along the way. Don't forget to bring a torch!

When you enter the caves through the northern entry (nearest Urbeth), you'll need to do some exploring in an area that you may not have visited before, though it was available. From the entrance, head left along the passage and then down to an inverted 'T' in the path. Head right and down, where you'll notice a passageway taking off toward the right. Head along that passage and you'll come to the top of a staircase. Descend those stairs, then head straight left to the opposite end of the passage, ignoring the offshoot along the way. You'll find more stairs. Descend them, then in the next passage walk straight to the right (again ignoring an offshoot) until you reach the top of another flight of stairs. Descend those stairs, as well, and then walk to the left until you see a path leading down. Head along that path to find a final staircase. Descend it to arrive in a large, more open room. There, walk straight up to meet with the Apothecary. When you talk to him, you'll trigger a battle with an Orc Lord enemy.

Check the bushes beyond where you fought that battle to find a flask of Hi-Elixir. That's the reason you came to the cave, so go ahead and exit now. Return to Urbeth and take the Hi-Elixir to Thauzand in his weapon shop. Hand it over and he'll be extremely grateful. He suggests that you rest up, so go to the inn and spend the night. In the morning, check back in at the weapon shop. Thauzand's daughter isn't doing much better than she was, even with the potion in effect. Talk to Thauzand, then to his daughter, then to Thauzand again. He'll leave for the temple. Head out of the shop and make your way to the temple, as well, but only after you've prepared yourself with the appropriate gear. Make sure that you bring along some equipment that's strong against fire attacks.

You need to climb to the top of the tower now. On the first floor, head left and up along the path to reach some stairs. On the second floor, head right (past a branch leading down) and around the trail as it winds its way to another staircase that leads to the third floor, which you can clear by heading up through the archway, right to the fork in the path, down to another split path and right to some more stairs. From those stairs, head up through an archway, then walk all the way left along the main hallway to its left end. Then head up to find more stairs. Climb them to reach the tower's fifth floor. From the stairs, head down a few steps and then proceed to the right. You'll find yourself in the middle of a four-way intersection. Head down along the path from the intersection to reach some stairs. Climb those stairs, head up through the archway and proceed left along the corridor until it winds down through another archway. Climb those stairs and you're on the seventh floor. Head up and proceed to the right at the first opportunity, along a path that will wind down and back to the left, where another staircase waits. Climb it. Next, head straight up and through the archway, right along the passage and follow it around to reach some stairs. Climb those and start forward along a lengthy passage. There's an Adventurer waiting, so save your progress with him. Then climb the stairs beyond him to reach the boss chamber.

There, approach the people who are gathered in front of the Apothecary. Talk to him to trigger a scene. When it concludes, you'll find yourself in the middle of a boss battle.

Boss Battle: Beelzebub

Beelzebub can potentially be a more challenging boss than many that you have faced up to this point, but only if you let him. With the gear that you should be wearing if you've followed this portion of the walkthrough, most of his attacks will do only moderate damage and you should have sufficient defenses to survive his attacks if you begin the battle by casting the Lux spell. Follow that up with powerful Mighty Magic attacks by your Black Mage character(s) and you'll be well on the way to victory. If things are progressing more slowly for you, though, the battle will be more difficult. Beelzebub launches into the air and will soon use an attack that can deal severe damage to all party members. You have a few turns to prepare for it and heal your characters, but if you fail to do that he can wipe out your whole party. That's why an aggressive offense is really the best option.

Once you win the fight, you'll receive the Alchemist crown. Step onto the glowing light to warp out of the tower and appear back in Urbeth, where you should visit Thauzand in his weapon shop (now in his familiar position at the top of the stairs) to receive the Cape of Light as a reward for your bravery. It's time to leave town in search of still more adventure.
