You're a cat on a mission, without any friends capable of helping you in battle. That won't stop enemies from attacking you when you venture out onto the map, so make sure that you are properly prepared.

To find Arbor, you'll first need to pass through the Animal Burrow cave Its entrance is located west from the town of Liberte You may have seen the entrance already, as a human. It's nestled against a mountain range, with a telltale copse of trees serving as a welcome mat. Step onto those trees while in cat form and you'll appear within the cave. As you venture through the cave, you'll find no branches in the path. Just work your way along the path, battling any monsters that randomly attack you, until you reach the area just ahead of the cave's exit. There, you'll face a battle that you simply cannot win, but that's okay. After you fall in battle, there will be a short scene and you will receive Lilibelle's Wings to help you on your way. You'll also receive the crowns of the Bandit and Bard.

Head left from where you fell in battle against Ogre Bear and you'll emerge at the edge of a wide desert. You've been to that desert before, as some of the other characters. Head due west now and you'll reach the town of Guera. There, make your way toward the inn and you'll find one of your former friends standing in the opening. Talk to him and you will join his party. Two disparate paths have now merged.

As a cat, you can now visit a portion of Guera that previously wasn't available to you. From the inn, head toward the left and there's a low, narrow opening in the wall that you can pass through to reach the magic shop. There, the merchant will sell you powerful tomes so that you can cast Raise magic (in battle and otherwise), Fira magic and a great deal of support magic. Spells cost 1500G apiece, so you may need to sell some gems to finance the purchases. Remember to hold onto your rarer gems, though, so that you can upgrade crowns.

When you've tended to everything that needs your attention, save your progress. Then leave town and head north. Veer slightly west and at the north edge of the desert, you'll find a cave known as the Fairy Path. Head inside.

In the cave, head straight up along the path until you reach a 'T' and then head left to find and open a treasure chest. It contains the Spirit Ring. Head back right and continue in that direction as the path continues. You'll soon reach another branch in the path where you can go left or up. Start by heading up to find a treasure chest. Open it and you'll obtain the Spring Gauntlets. Then head back down and proceed to the left. When you reach the end of that path, which has no further branches to worry about, you'll arrive back outside on the overworld map.

Ahead of you, there's an expansive forest area. From where you exited the cave, just head due north through the forestation and you'll see what looks like a massive tree rising out of the greenery. Get near enough and you'll enter the village of Arbor. A scene follows, and then the action skips on over to Liberte.
